AEM Cold Air Intake for Evo X Dyno Results

AEM Intake vs. Stock Intake

As you can see the AEM intake on the right allows for a smoother air flow and is  wider piping. I actually have the AEM intake on my Evo X MR and love it.

AEM’s Claimed Dyno Numbers

Horsepower:

Torque:

So they are showing about a 15hp and 15tq increase to the wheels of the Evo X. Okay so you think that can’t be true. An intake should normally add about 5hp max.

Numbers from RRE’s Dyno (Local Shop in Southern California)

Keep in mind that the car that the AEM Intake was tested on had full 3 inch Exhaust so the numbers are a bit higher and also the increase might be a little higher because now the flow of the whole car is better. So the numbers in yellow is before and numbers in green is after.

As you can see it increased about 24 torque and 31 horsepower. Again keep in mind that this is not only the intake, its the full 3inch exhaust so the gains are higher.

Well, the AEM claims are true it does add over 15hp and 15tq wheel horsepower.

More Details

Its not always about horsepower, well at least not for everyone. On the AEM Intake the filter is in an enclosed box and causes the intake to be little quiet. If you are all about sound then I would go with an AMS or ETS intake.

This intake is also very stealth and almost lost completely stock except for the AEM logo on the top of the box. If you want a more flashy intake try getting a AMS or ETS.

What I love about the AEM is obovously the power it makes, the look (I don’t like flashy), and the mellow sound (it roars but only in full throttle).

Let me know what you guys think?
